About Our Ministry
(For a more in depth statement of faith, click here.)
The
Lord Jesus Christ has promised to build His church, and in so doing
overcome the very gates of hell. We
rejoice that God has called us to be a part of this everlasting work.
In
our desire to serve Him faithfully, we adhere to the following
distinctives as a local assembly of Christians.
The
Glory of God
- We
seek to glorify God in all that we do as His people.
- We
believe that the triune God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - is active
in every aspect of our lives.
- We
understand that we glorify God most as we obey His Word and find our
joy in Him.
The
Centrality of the Church
- We
view the church as the new humanity, entrusted with the gospel, and
used by God to bring about the renewal of all creation.
- We
believe that the Lord renews His covenant with us each Lord's Day
through the gifts of His Word and Sacraments, and that these gifts are
for all of God's covenant people (including children).
- We
welcome the work of elders to actively shepherd us as saints for the
good of the church and the world.
Biblical
Households
- We
seek to model and enjoy the distinct masculine and feminine roles that
God has revealed in His Word.
- We
strive to cultivate a vision for multi-generational covenant succession
among our families.
- We
strongly encourage Christian education so that our children would not
be exasperated, but brought up fully in the discipline and instruction
of the Lord.
Covenant
Community
- We
believe that our commitment and interest in one another goes beyond
Sundays and includes the encouragement we can bring to one another
throughout the week.
- We
understand that discipline, instruction, and sacrifice is an ongoing
part of our lives together as Christ's disciples.
- We
believe that love - the forgotten mark of the church - is essential to
our witness to one another and the world.
Building
the Kingdom
- We
believe that God is in the process of building His kingdom through
faithful worship, preaching, and ministry.
- We
seek to extend the kingdom by loving our neighbors as ourselves and
faithfully fulfilling the vocations that God has given us.
- We
labor in humble confidence and joy because our hope is based not on the
circumstances of any given day, but on God's faithfulness to His Word.
